I also love how this ingredient coincides with a rainy Sunday when we are all feeling very much under it–the weather, the first colds of the season, body fatigue, a touch of post-birthday spiritual malaise. Oh, nothing serious, folks. Just a bit (almost wrote “bite”) of the blues.

My husband braised leeks last week and they were transformed into such a delicate, tender thing, I’m not sure I’ll ever eat them any other way. But I will check back here just in case!
